Otto Piene | SKY ART

Open catalog

The sky always held a special attraction for ZERO pioneer Otto Piene. When he went to the American Center for Advanced Visual Studies (CAVS)
in Massachusetts, it was clear to him that his art would develop with and around the elements of air and light. In this way, he sought to transcend the rigid boundaries of art. His efforts culminated in the late 1960s in his spectacular SkyArt events, in which he raised giant inflatable objects into the airspace.

Those who are interested in the delicate 'Inflatables' with which Piene used to play with public space currently have the opportunity to do so at Frankfurt's Schirn and, starting next year, at the Museum Tinguely.
